Managing and Visualising IT Infrastructure in Servicely's CMDB
Servicely's Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is a core part of our IT Service Management (ITSM) solution, enabling IT service teams to properly manage configuration of their IT assets and infrastructure to provide the necessary insights needed to diagnose issues and make informed change management decisions.
Video Transcript
In this video, we'll have a look at how we can visualize configuration items and their relationships as part of the Servicely CMDB. As you can see over here to the left, we have a set of configuration item categories, such as cloud infrastructure, business services, hardware, network, and so on and so forth. If we unfold the business service category, we can come in here and see that we can support multiple IT and non-IT services. In this case, we'll open up the supply chain element, and we can see here it's a component which is currently, or a service that is currently, in use.
We can also see related records as part of the CMDB relationships to other process tasks. If we come down here at the bottom, we can see that we can view the related items. So, that means we can actually come in and see what makes up that particular business service. We can even go further and see the underlying components downstream as well in terms of what is currently supporting a particular server that is supporting the service.
In this case here, we can see that for Web Server 01, we have a load balancer supporting that one, and we can see that there's a network switch as well supporting. We can take this information from practically any discovery tool out there that will identify relationships between components and reuse that in the Servicely CMDB.
