Informed Change Management with Integrated CMDB

An integrated Configuration Management Database (CMDB) can enable your IT service team to make better-informed decisions while carrying out change management. View configuration items (CIs) impacted by a proposed change and view the visual CMDB map to see how these CIs related to others.

Welcome to this video that will quickly show you how we can leverage the Servicely CMDB across different ITIL processes, such as, for instance, change management. The service platform contains a complete CMDB with relevant components, such as cloud infrastructure, business services, hardware, network components, software, and so on and so forth. In particular, we have business services, which represent a related set of configuration items in the system, and we can see here we have a particular supply chain service.

So, let's have a look at how that would be supporting the change management process. By coming in here to change, we will open up the change record, and from the record details, we can see that we've already leveraged the Servicely AI capabilities to classify the change. But we can also come in here to the record details and see the related configuration items, especially for that load balancer that we're doing a change on. We can see the upstream and downstream relationships that touch into that business service.

And should there be a change, I can click 'Refresh Impacted Services,' and we should see what other services and items potentially would be impacted. This is all supported by the CMDB, of course, and the respective relationships. So, once we come in and we view the impacted items, we will see that service model that sits underneath the hood. We can see that that load balancer actually supports two different web servers, network switch, and we can go all the way through here and expand all of the components and all the way up to the business service.
